Cute Attire: A Reporter Must

I've made it my goal to always dress well when covering a story.
None of my jobs have an office.
I don't get to wake up, dress up, and go out for the day.
So, when I get to socialize, I like to keep it classy ;)

Tonight I wanted to wear a skirt or dress (one of my favorite dresses has gone missing, as have my black tights--making me limited to my brown or bright blue tights).

It helps to feel nice while sitting through long meetings, wondering if you are writing down the info you need.

(Sorry, pictures are scarce from this outfit.  I was running short on time...and my camera died.)

Attempting Fashion Blogging

I love seeing fashion shots, candid photos, and life shared on the blogs I read.
But, I've been hesitant to try fashion blogging.
And, I don't think about taking pictures of myself till it's too late.

However, I have a tripod...I might as well put it to use.

While watching Legally Blonde, I decided to take some self-photos.
During commercials, I tried to figure out how to take shots without a tripod or someone to help me.
But, it was kind of fun : )
And, I get to show you all my cute, leopard print ballet flats (seriously, after I had to finally throw out my last pair, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair).

Well, happy Sunday evening.
Enjoy the Grammys.
And, have a fabulous week!

Aren't they fab?  Shoes: J.Crew

Turning a Spade With the Crew

Blog Challenge (that I've been thinking about for a few days):  What two brands of clothes would I wear for the rest of my life?

I have made one definite decision and one maybe decision.

Definite:
J. Crew

Their clothes are beautiful, well made, and classy.

I've been wanting a navy pea coat!  Love this one!

Maybe:
Kate Spade

I always find myself attracted to her styles, accessories, etc.

This dress reminds me of the Don Loper dress Lucy chooses in The Fashion Show!
 What brands do you love?

My Favourite Clothes!

Today's blog challenge is to write about my favourite article of clothing.

This topic has many sub-topics.  My favourite item because of nostalgia, beauty, frequent wearing, currently own, used to own, owned at some point in life?  You can see where I run into a problem.
I am just going to answer in several topics because, as I've said in the past, I don't like choosing!

*Disclaimer: "article of clothing" is being translated into shoes, too*

So, my favourite article of clothing for nostalgia's sake is a pair of black ballet flats I bought in 2007 from Aeropostale.  I finally HAD to throw them away.  They had lost all ability to hold their own shape.  But, I was loathe to toss them as they had traipsed all over Europe with me.  We had memories from the Alps to the streets of Italia.  Every other time I thought about throwing them away, the memories won out.  Last semester I finally put them in the rubbish.

My favourite clothing for beauty's sake is my "Charger Dress."  I fell in love with this beautiful, tangerine dress when I was in 7th grade.  At the time it was a bit too large.  But, I was able to wear it for a pageant that year.  Two years later I wore it in another pageant (winning that time).  Then, for my Senior prom, after putting another dress on hold, I decided to wear it a third time.  It is just such a lovely dress.  The reason we called it the "Charger Dress" is because the local school, and where I graduated, had a Charger as their mascot.

My favourite item for frequent wearing is a navy skirt with while polka dots I bought from H&M while in NYC in May.  I saw it and loved it.  It reminds me of a navy skirt with white stars my grandma gave me when I was little.
See that cute lady with me?  She has the best boutique ever!  It's where I bought the Charger Dress!
So, there you have it, three of my favourite items to wear!

The Dirndl is from a thrift shop in Regensburg, Germany.
The "Charger Dress" is from Laura's Boutique Ltd. Hot Springs, VA!  Hit it up if you are ever up there!
The skirt, shirt, and belt I am wearing are from Forever 21, and the shoes are from H&M.

My Dream Job

Hello!

I'm back this evening to write my next blog challenge: my dream job.
Really?  I wish I knew.

Since I can't name my dream job, I will list some interests that I have and that I would like to have as aspects of my job.

-People interaction
-Fashion
-Writing
-Creativity
-Maybe some photography
-Travel
-Fast-paced environment
-Fun co-workers
-Located in Europe
-Travel
-Planning

Next I am going to list some perks that would be nice:

-Hob-nobbing with some celebrities
-Parties
-Access to places the public doesn't...or at least before they do

And, who knows what else.
I have ideas of jobs that would be fabulous for me.

From what I've said above, do you have any ideas?
I would love to hear them!

Sincerely,

Kirsten

P.S. It would be  amazing to be a part of Vogue...somehow.

Aim to be Harrods, not Bloomys

See here
The Duchess Catherine has one of the most incredible wardrobes I have ever seen.  She constantly amazes me with her gorgeous ensembles, which is why I am appalled at the response on Facebook to Vogue's 10 Best Dressed today.  Of the ten outfits showcased, there were two classes.  The Duchess.  Everyone else.

While her gown is not my favourite of what she has worn, it is nonetheless gorgeous.

She is Harrods.  Everyone else is Bloomingdales.

The neckline and bodice of her gown remind me of something out of a BBC rendition of Shakespeare.  Flattering, elegant, and suitable for a state dinner.

Calling All Fashionistas!

Dear Fashion Lovers (or One Who is Related to a Fashion Lover),

A few weeks ago Shabby Apple emailed me saying the content of my blog fit with their style and asked if I would like to join their affiliate program.  I looked into the program and decided it would be lovely to advertise their fabulous styles and accessories.

Please check out their site!  If you purchase something from their site within 15 days of clicking on the link from my page, I will receive a 5% commission.

Below are a few items I would love to have in my closet!

I love tutus!  They are so fun for going out (say, to the theatre)!

Classic black pumps. Ja'dore!

Just love this simple, summer dress.

Love this.  So classy.

How cute is that lid?

Tea Sets and Chandeliers

Hello Lovelies!

I am back home after spending a few days with my Aunt in Staunton.
A quaint town, Staunton boasts large and lovely antique and consignment shops.

Aunt Barbara and I went downtown Sunday night (in her BMW convertible Barbie Car ) and window shopped.

I found a beautiful tea set with a turquoise stripe around the top and a small gold stripe on either side.
She found a chic, romantic chandelier to hang in her bedroom.

She bought her find and I walked away from mine.  Although, I did decide that I can buy lots of tea sets and use one each month on a rotational basis!

Monday we had a lovely breakfast of french toast and strawberries.
Coffee was also a factor.
While journaling I noticed I was shaky.  I think it was the coffee.

We went downtown and shopped.  I ended up purchasing a vintage, blush pink umbrella.

Aunt Barbara found a lovely formal gown.

We went swimming and sunned.  Watched the Olympics and had girl time.

Such a wonderful time we had.  My favorite part of swimming is when they pull that mermaid move.
Aunt Barbara called it "wiggling."

Now I am home preparing to fly to Florida in the morning.

Cheers!

P.S.  My computer crashed and it is having to be slowly fixed.  Thus, pictures will be lacking for the time being : (
